Are you hiring?

This is probably the second most asked question of a record store owner or manager, right after "Do you have so and so in stock?" or "Who does that song 'There's a bathroom on the right'?"

I opened my first record store, The Record Department, whose tagline was "Dedicated to the preservation of vinyl" in 1986. A year after that I opened Middle Earth Records, whose tagline was "You'll never know what we'll dig up." Almost daily, especially right after I opened, I would be asked the question, "Are you hiring?" sometimes by up to five different kids. Everyone wanted to work in the record store.

This documentary will explore the life and times of record stores and their employees.

It is appropriately being announced on August 12th 2022, which is National Vinyl Record Day, and hopefully will have a release date on Record Store Day, Saturday, April 15th, 2023.

I have conceived of, and written a lot of documentary films, sometimes as many as three a week.  This is in addition to the many other commercial, narrative and TV series work I do.
